Learn to Trade
If you are serious about learning to trade, you may not like what I am about to tell you next. Trading is a tough game, it’s fiercely competitve, and it takes a well disciplined approach to achieve consistent success.
There really are two distinct areas that you need to consider, the first is devloping the techincal skills, or as Mark Douglas (Trading in the Zone) likes to put it, “developing your edge”. That is, learning how to hone your skills, so that on average, you have an above average probablility that when you make a decision, the odds will be in your favour.
The second area, that is absolutely critical to your success, is developing the soft skills to compliment this new knowledge. Most traders are usually operating from position of greed or fear. Both are as dangerous as each other. Their past experience and conditioning have a dramatic subliminal effect on their decision making process. This is self mastery, emotionally and physically.
Trading requires you to be objective and level headed. This is almost impossible even for experienced traders, but it is a goal to move towards. As professinal traders or investors, we need to continually develop the skill of monitoring ourselves.
